Faculty Perspective
“Not only are we teaching the necessary skills to one day operate in a university environment, we are teaching life skills – the skills of how to live and how to interact with people and how to affect the culture for Christ.”
- Dr. Mildred Similton, Upper School Principal
“We’re all aware of the needs of children socially, physically and academically. But there is a spiritual need within all of us and we have the privilege here to help young people identify that need and then seek out ways through scripture and prayer that can meet that need in their hearts and life.”
- Willa McGhee, Middle School / High School Teacher
“We pray anytime we want to and talk about Jesus anytime we want to — and that is a great honor and privilege in itself. Our biblical worldview is integrated in every subject from phonics to science.”
- Kim Hucks, First Grade Teacher
“Our culture today makes a divide between reason and faith. It says that faith is what you do on Wednesday night and Sunday morning, but you need to leave that at the door when you go to school or the workplace. Here, at Central Academy, we teach students that this is not the way God has made the world. Our faith applies to every field of knowledge. It applies in their neighborhoods, at their workplace and at school. We can see God’s fingerprints in all areas of life. So, what we do here that parents can’t get at other schools is that we take down the wall between faith and reason to see how God moves in all areas.”
- Mike Mason, Middle / High School Teacher
“When I talk to my coaches and I bring them on, I want them to value Christ first and then understand their sport. If they can’t teach Christ, then they can’t teach their sport because here, at the Academy, we want to put Christ first. It’s important for our students to understand that winning is not the most important thing. It’s the value of the child that is most important.”
- Coach Dale Similton, Athletic Director
