Board of Trustees
D. Greg Baker was named Chairman of the Board of Trustees in 2008. He was born in Illinois and moved to Charlotte in 1984. He graduated from Evangel University with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and went on to receive his master’s degree in Elementary Education from Winthrop University. He is also a Church of God licensed minister. In 1990 Pastor Baker joined the staff of Central Church of God as the Minister of Education and a few years later became the Executive Pastor. He enjoys gardening, traveling, running, tennis, and home projects and resides in Charlotte with his wife, Laura, and their two children.

Carol Anderson joined the Board of Trustees in 2009 and has held leadership positions as a Central Academy parent, including co-chairing the Grandparents’ Breakfast committee. Originally from New England, she graduated from Fairwood Bible Institute in 1990 and continued her education at the University of Southern Maine and Cedarville University with a concentration in Business Administration. She recently completed a Certificate of Women’s Ministries through Southern Evangelical Seminary. Her professional experience includes positions in office management, human resources and elder care. She has also been involved in various areas of church ministry, including worship leader, small group facilitator and youth leader. Mrs. Anderson attends Twelve Mile Creek Church and resides in Indian Trail with her husband, Blake, and their three children who are students at Central Academy. In her spare time she enjoys reading, gardening, cooking and interior decorating.

Brad Crotts joined the Board of Trustees in 2009. Originally from High Point, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Architecture and a Professional Architecture degree from UNC-Charlotte. He is employed by Perkins Eastman as an Architects Design Architect and Senior Associate. He and his wife, Ali, have two children and are active members of Central Church where Mr. Crotts is involved with various youth ministries, the men’s ministry and small group ministry. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), Charlotte Rotary Club and serves as a basketball, soccer and football coach with CHAMPS Sports Ministry. He enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, reading, cooking, fishing and other sportsman outdoor activities.

Steve Poston joined the Board of Trustees in 2005. Originally from Louisville, KY, he earned an associate’s degree from Gardner-Webb University, a bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest University and a master’s degree from Appalachian State University. He is currently the Vice President and Director of Athletics at Wingate University. Within the community he is a member of the United Way of Union County Board of Directors, the Monroe Rotary Club, and Church at Charlotte. He enjoys golf and watching Wingate sports teams compete. He and his wife, Beverly reside in Weddington.

Jim Roberts joined the Board of Trustees in 2009. He grew up in Dallas and Atlanta, and graduated from Georgia State University. He is a Certified Public Accountant and retired in 2002 after 30 years in banking. He was then employed as a District Director for Crown Financial Ministries until 2010, when he moved into the role of speaker and trainer for the organization. His community involvement includes work with the Boy Scouts of America and he is founding member and co-leader of the Charlotte Chapter of Kingdom Advisors, an organization of Christian financial professionals. Mr. Roberts is a member of Forest Hill Church where he trains small group study leaders , conducts small group financial studies and co-leads a small group. His hobbies and interests include boating, skiing, art, music, reading, anything financial, growing in his faith and playing with his grandchildren. He and his wife, Danice, live in Charlotte and have five children and seven grandchildren.

Walter Sikes joined the Board of Trustees in 2008. He is a Charlotte native and earned a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Duke University. He retired from his position of Vice President for Business Development at Duke Energy and is currently a realtor with Allen Tate. In his spare time he enjoys golf, fishing, hunting, gardening, and playing with his grandchildren. He and his wife, Cynthia, reside in Charlotte and are members of Central Church of God. They have two daughters and three grandsons.

Shelley Young joined the Board of Trustees in 2010. Originally from Montclair, New Jersey, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Howard University, an MBA from American University, a Masters of Theological Studies from Emory University and is currently in her second year of a Ph.D. program in Educational Psychology at the University of Virginia. She is a graduate of Leadership Charlotte and volunteers with United Way, A Child’s Place, Charlotte Symphony, Classroom Central, Habitat for Humanity, Reading First, and serves as a Board member for Sustain Charlotte. Ms. Young has over 20 years experience in market-leading organizations and Fortune 500 corporations. She has been recognized for strategic HR leadership and development and leveraging best practices across diverse industries and markets, including banking, healthcare, consumer goods, manufacturing and technology. She successfully developed and implemented organizational development, strategic planning, project management and talent development programs to meet business and shareholder objectives as well as designed, developed and delivered over 600 trainings/seminars throughout the U.S., Africa, India and the Bahamas. She attends Central Church of God where she is an instructor for the Life Care Center and a leader/volunteer for the Short-Term Missions program. She enjoys traveling, reading, yoga, cycling, tennis and entertaining family and friends.
