Central Academy at Lake Park (formerly Lake Park Christian Academy) is a private Christian school and open to students in grades K-12.  As a ministry of Central Church of God in Charlotte, the Academy is governed by a Board of Trustees.

A curriculum of core subjects including mathematics, language arts, science, social studies, and Bible is emphasized through a hands-on, cooperative style of instructional methodology.  A phonics based reading program begins from kindergarten through second grade, with attention given to reading comprehension.  Instruction in grammar and writing skills are incorporated throughout all grade levels and mastery of all subjects is emphasized.

In addition, electives and specials such as Spanish, physical education, art, computer, and music are offered.  A computer lab with PCs, a netbook mobile lab, and a Macbook mobile lab are available for instruction and student use.

The Academy employs professional and qualified teachers who care about their students and challenge them to reach their potential academically as well as spiritually.

Students attend chapel services, which provide opportunity for corporate worship through music and a brief message by either a member of the school community or an outside speaker.

The high school program is college preparatory in nature and the goal is to prepare students with knowledge, resources, and opportunities that will assist them in making spiritually directed college and career decisions. This objective is accomplished by guiding students and parents through the college preparation and decision making process.

Extra-curricular athletic activities in basketball, cross country, soccer, softball, tennis, volleyball and cheerleading are offered to upper school students along with private music lessons and opportunities for students to participate in a praise and worship team.

The school day begins at 8:30 a.m. for all students.  Kindergarteners are dismissed at 2:00 p.m., but an optional extended care program to 3:00 pm is available.  Students in grades 1-12 are dismissed at 3:00 p.m.

A van shuttle service from locations in Charlotte and Weddington is available in the morning and afternoon to assist families in the transportation of their children to and from the Academy.

Tuition discounts for Central Church of God members and multiple sibling discounts are offered to families. We urge you to set up a personal tour of our school at your earliest convenience.
